history of 210

Location & Establishment

North Shore staple since 1949

Located at 210 Green Bay Road, in Highwood, Illinois, this historic property has seen many changes over the years, starting in 1949 with the original build as Mary Jane Lanes (Lake County’s first bowling alley), later renamed Highwood Lanes, and owned by the same family for the following 56 years. In 2005 Highwood Lanes became The Alley for the next decade, and in 2015 was reinvented into 210, the supper-club-turned-night-club, when Alley-owner, Steve, met & joined forces with Green Acres Country Club’s executive chef, Jeff.

Reincarnation

Interestingly, during the 70’s, a night club promoter took over the space, covered the lanes as they are today, and dubbed the club, Minstrel’s Alley. Chicago-area and national touring musicians like The Ramones, Cheap Trick, Styx, and Jump in the Saddle Band used to regularly play at Minstrel’s Alley, and the epic stories of great shows & greater times are still told at 210 today.

What 210 is all about now

The full chef-driven menu specializes in savory dry-rub ribs from 210’s very own barbecue pit, hearty homemade soups, and phenomenal desserts. The bar boasts 6 taps and one of the largest selection of bottled beer in the area. Live music & the late night lounge use a professional sound system and offer the best live entertainment on the North Shore five nights a week. The high ceilings of alleys past create a perfect venue for live music and private parties, with clear site-lines from any spot in the joint & great acoustics.
