DIANA AND THE DISHES
DIANA AND THE DISHES
June 1, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
$5
WEBSITE: https://dianaandthedishes.com
FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/dianaandthedishes
Garnering comparisons to Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, Carole King, and Cole Porter, Chicago band DIANA & THE DISHES presents a unique, high-energy recipe of pop, soul, wit, tight musicianship and contagious fun. Since forming in 2008 around singer/songwriter/pianist, Diana Lawrence, the band has taken their city by storm, playing reputable rock venues such as the Schubas, Martyrs, Double Door and Subterranean, while also becoming favorites at listening rooms and creative events, including The Paper Machete and the Uptown Poetry Slam at The Green Mill. Throughout 2015 and 2016, the Diana & the Dishes played a monthly residency at the High Hat Club, a boutique music and comedy club on Chicago’s north side. The band’s debut release, “Take A Picture,” was listed in Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 for 2011, and a new album is currently in production.
For each member of Diana & the Dishes, the band is a part of a full and varied life of professional music-making. Drummer Bob Parlier spent many years touring with the band, Strange Arrangement, and now gigs regularly in Chicago. Bassist Dan Thatcher runs the Ears and Eyes jazz series, while also gigging regularly around town. Guitarist Dave Saenger runs his own guitar studio and plays for countless professional musical theatre productions, and cellist David Keller is active in the contemporary classical music scene while also running the bands Origin of Animal and A Light Sleeper. When not writing music for the Dishes, Diana is writing music for Chicago theatre, including Steppenwolf Theatre and The Second City, while also gigging as a singer, pianist, and music director.
When their powers combine, Diana & the Dishes has an uncanny ability to create a come-as-you-are, family-affair vibe for their audiences, all while delivering stunning musicianship, boundless energy and disarming honesty. Whether they're playing plugged-in and rock-your-socks-off or acoustic and intimate, you’re always guaranteed a night of smart, soulful pop that at once get you dancing and pierce your heart.

BROTHERS AND OTHERS WITH LOUIE ZAGORAS $10
BROTHERS AND OTHERS WITH LOUIE ZAGORAS $10
June 2, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm
$10 cover
Start time 8:00pm!
Brothers and Others is an accumulation of years of friendship and shared creativity.
Late in high school, Chip and Rob met when Chip saw Rob performing on stage at New Trier West (74). Shortly after that they joined up with Tom Cloud and Matt Casey and formed MESA.
They became a favorite of Chicago's north side and north shore, started recording and quickly expanded their reach to the neighboring states. With fans, regular appearances even some radio presence in cities around the mid-west -becoming regulars in Carbondale, Champaign, and Bloomington IN. etc.
Tommy Kleeman (Rob’s brother) joined in late in the 70's and was followed shortly thereafter by keyboardist Pete Spero. The band gained a modicum of success with inclusion on the WKQX hometown album and appearances at Chicago Fest.
Then, at approx 10pm Rollover will take the stage:
ROLLOVER is a band deeply rooted in the blues and classic Guitar driven rock. They toured the country extensively in the 90's when the band's first record broke on Chicago's 93.1 WXRT-radio. Their song "Shipwreck" was the break-out single.
Rollover was the first Chicago Rock Band to be signed by the legendary Bill Graham Management (Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Neville Brothers, Joe Satriani, etc.).
Over the years ROLLOVER has toured with and supported Top Rock acts like The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Satriani, Sheryl Crow, Blues Traveler, The Neville Brothers, Dave Mason, Los Lobos, Jimmy Vaughan, Buddy Miles, John Hiatt, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Robin Trower, Cheap Trick, Hot Tuna, Eddie Money, Foghat, Atlanta Rythym Section, Dick Dale, Sonny Landereth, Savoy Brown, Earl King, Gatemouth Brown and many others.
Rollover loves and has been influenced by the music of Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Tom Petty and other classic bands and artists. His sound is described as "roots rock meets the blues".
In 1995, Louie's song "Shipwreck" was featured on A&M Records "H.O.R.D.E. CD Sampler". They were constantly on the road, sometimes spending months traveling from L.A to New York and back again. This gave the band a chance to really develop their sound and tighten up their already exciting live shows. The band did many tour dates supporting Joe Satriani and performed with him in the U.K for a month of sold out shows in 1996. Upon returning to the states the band did two more sold-out nights with Joe at the famous Fillmore in San Francisco.
Rollover songs have been used for TV shows (CBS’s The Rachael Ray Show, Nash Bridges, Spelling Productions etc.) and movies (Lost and Confused). For the last 18 years, he has been writing songs with Roy Marinell. Roy co- wrote “Werewolves of London”, “Excitable Boy”, other hits with the late great Warren Zevon. Roy also recently co-wrote “All Summer Long” with Kid Rock. Rollover's Louie Zagoras produced all of the ROLLOVER CDs as well as the new “Twenty Fingers” solo CD. After three nationally distributed CDs and countless tours with ROLLOVER, Louie has released his first solo CD, “Twenty Fingers” on Isis Records. Produced by Louie and The Herron Brothers, it features top Chicago musicians Jay Davenport on Drums and former Black Crowes/Jimmy Page bassist Greg Rzab. Joe Satriani says "Twenty Fingers" is a joy to listen to.”

THE REDMONDS $10
THE REDMONDS $10
June 3, 2017 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
$10
We are so happy to have the Redmonds back at 210!
https://redmondsmusic.com/
Playing everything from Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash to Civil Wars and the Lumineers, The Redmonds perform as an acoustic duo featuring the impeccable harmonies of Mike and Katie Redmond; as well as a full band with some of the best musicians in the region.
Mike Redmond has performed professionally for 30 years. He first entered the music scene as a teen aged soundman for Soundz Music in 1979, working with such bands as Cheap Trick, Molly Hatchet, the Dixie Dregs and America. Along the way he pursued his own opportunities to take the stage, driving hundreds of miles to gigs while managed by R.J. Kaltenbach and T.J. Sheppard. By the time he was 24 he had a development deal with Phil Walden’s Capricorn Records.
Over the years Mike’s played with Fugitive, Magazine, The Redstones and, since 1997, with Off Broadway. That experience has left him equally at home sitting behind an acoustic 12-string as he is hooked up to his electric Hamer, laying down rhythm riffs.
Katie Hull Redmond joined Mike in music (and marriage) in 2005. A trained singer, she has performed professionally at weddings, corporate events, festivals, and other social functions around the Chicago area for 20 years. Her musical influences range the classic to the contemporary rock – from Schubert’s Ave Maria to Patti LaBelle to Janis Joplin. Together, she and Mike are magic.
Rounding out the Redmonds line-up for full band show are bassist Mike Gorman of Off Broadway and Pezband fame; top Chicago pedal steel player Rich Koc; studio drummer Rick Nelson; and multi-instrumentalist L.J. Slavin who has played everywhere from television’s “Tool Time” to the Steppenwolf Theater.
Showcased at Fitzgerald’s and as an opening act for REO Speedwagon, The Redmonds appeal to fans age 6-60 and put on a show with something for everyone.

BOSSA BLUE $5
BOSSA BLUE $5
June 8, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
$5
Bossa Blue takes you back to the whiskey-soaked juke joints and jazz clubs where the blues first found the subtle pulse of bossa nova jazz. This extraordinary group of musicians rearrange contemporary, classic rock, and jazz standards with the influences of 'cool jazz,' bossa nova, soul, and blues. Bossa Blue delivers a dark and smokey retro lounge vibe that will stir up your body and caress your soul.
Bossa Blue is the vision of award-winning songwriter and bandleader Brad Cole. A veteran of the Chicago music scene and current resident of New York City, Brad has 5 studio albums under his belt. His 2016 release 'Lay It Down' has received critical acclaim; 'No Depression' Magazine says "Lay It Down masterfully takes listeners from the familiar spaces of reflective, lyric-driven folk music to the expansive reaches of Bossa Nova jazz. It’s a beautiful album."
Since 2010, Brad has toured constantly across the U.S., sharing the stage with the likes of talented musicians such as Chris Stapleton, James Hunter, Ingrid Michelson, Shovels & Rope, and Dave Davies Of The Kinks, to name a few.
“I grew up on jazz and, over the years, I became a total bossa-phile. The idea of re-arranging and playing some of my favorite rock/soundtrack-of-my-life tunes into a jazz/bossa construct feels like a natural progression for me as an artist. And it is really fun. The blues elements are just where I come from as a person. So, going through my jazz collection with the idea of playing basic and raw interpretation of these tunes is like hitting the jackpot for me. This band is a true collaboration and we are always looking for great soloists to sit in.” - Brad Cole

LINSEY ALEXANDER $10
LINSEY ALEXANDER $10
June 9, 2017 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
$10
Tickets: https://goo.gl/IK2NNm
Born in Mississippi and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Linsey Alexander discovered a down to earth city that truly understands and appreciates music on Chicago's southside. In much the same way as many great blues artists before him, he grew up in a poor but honest and hard working family, learning early on that music has the power to lift the spirit and comfort the soul. In Linsey's own words, "Blues is not hard- it's just a documentary about life." His first guitar - a gift from a family friend who played on the front stoop of Linsey's home in Memphis - was never retrieved from the pawn shop where he left it almost 50 years ago. Using the money to help pay his way to Chicago, he now plays a variety of Gibson and Fender guitars. Since 1959, Linsey Alexander has been perfecting the art of entertainment blues for the sheer and simple pleasure of it. His easy smile and unpretentious personality define a charismatic entertainer who loves to perform; and perform he does!
Although having played with B.B.King, Bobby Rush, Buddy Guy, Little Milton, Magic Slim, Johnnie Taylor, A.C.Reed, Larry McCray, Bither Smith, John Primer, Otis Clay, Eddie Clearwater, and other great blues performers, Linsey Alexander has remained resolutely true to his own style. His earlier CD's released, "Someone’s Cookin' in My Kitchen," "My Days Are So Long," and "If You Ain't Got It" are all three compilations of original Blues and R&B tunes.
Alexander has been to 10 countries and all across America spreading the joy of blues.
He is thankful for the good things in his life, and now at last, seems willing to realize that the friends that encouraged him to keep playing over the years may have known a thing or two about talent. Linsey has "never truly believed in himself" until now; Now, he is ready to believe. In 2012, He signed with Delmark Records and recorded his first international CD, "Been There, Done That."
Linsey's recent CD, released in August 2014, "Come Back Baby," landed Linsey a spot as number three best Chicago Blues album.
Linsey Alexander was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame June 8th, 2014.
Linsey Alexander's tour put him in Mexico, Brazil and France. Alexander plans to return to Brazil and France soon in 2015.
